About Debbie Farrell

Debbie Farrell has always been interested in all areas of textile design.  Building on her London degree in Printed Textiles and Decoration, Debbie worked in a West London textiles studio producing printed patterns for interior fabrics.  Debbie’s enthusiasm led her to teaching, including running art departments for international summer courses.  Debbie has exhibited her work in galleries across the South East, including London’s Business Design Centre and galleries in London, Ascot and Wargrave.

Debbie currently focuses on embroidery and is inspired by her home in rural Oxfordshire. Picturesque summer poppies, frosty winter snow scenes, late summer silhouettes, along with many beautiful flowers and local landscapes are embroidered freehand by Debbie. She experiments with colour – either choosing a naturalistic palette or exaggerating the colours for a stronger sense of heat or cold. She mixes the colours of thread to break down the component colours in the setting, carefully choosing the blend for maximum effect.

Debbie is always happy to take on personal commissions, working with clients to produce unique pieces to their specifications.  She produces personalised landscape embroideries of homes, or special places, for example churches to commemorate weddings.
