About Virginia Graham

Virginia’s ceramics are an eclectic amalgamation of nostalgic form and imagery ranging from teapots and cups to jewellery, as well as one-off larger pieces incorporating precious stones, metal and found objects.

“I use a combination of slip casting and hand building techniques to create pieces in my signature style. Their surface decoration includes slip painting, enamel transfer printing and metallic lustres, making reference to historical ceramic wares, including the familiar blue and white stripes of Cornish Ware, as well as industrial plumbing, vintage textiles, paper ephemera and themes of collecting and commemoration.”

Virginia creates her useable ceramics, that collage together this nostalgic form and imagery, with just a little playful humour. She mixes these styles, prints and colour in order to evoke memories, create connections and associations. The resulting pieces are somehow strange yet familiar, precious yet ordinary………

I began making in 2000, and currently work from my garden studio. I exhibit widely in the UK and abroad and my work has been featured in many magazines and books including Elle Decoration, Vogue, Ceramic Review, Country Living and most recently Period Living.

Most of my pieces are fully functional and perfect for your morning cuppa!
